CSU Stakeholders Engage in College’s Research Agenda Setting Workshop

The Cotabato State University (CSU) convened the second day of its College’s Research Agenda Setting Workshop at the SB Function Hall in Cotabato City on April 24, 2025. Spearheaded by the Office of Research Programs under the direction of Dr. Tarhata S. Guiamalon, the event brought together diverse stakeholders to shape the university’s research agenda.

University President Dr. Sema G. Dilna emphasized the importance of this initiative, underscoring his vision for intensifying the university’s research agenda to drive innovation and excellence.

Dr. Saidamin Bagolong, Director for Policy and Scientific Publication, provided comprehensive inputs on preparing research agendas aligned with the University Research Agenda and thrusts, and facilitated the workshop.

The participants were grouped by colleges with Deans, Directors, Program Heads, faculty, staff, student leaders, and alumni. The colleges represented include the Graduate School, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Agriculture and Fisheries, College of Business and Public Administration, College of Engineering, Technology and Computing, College of Forestry, College of Teacher Education, and College of Islamic Studies.

Specific groups were also designated. One group included OSAS, the Office of Instruction, GAD, Library, Registrar, and Guidance. HRMO, Quality Assurance, PMT, Procurement Office, Finance Office, and Records Office formed another group. The Development Centers, Extension Services, Production Office, Committee on Ethics, and Research Programs comprised another group.

Each group presented their outputs to a panel of evaluators composed of Dr. Teng Alim, VP for Research, Extension, Development, and Resource Generation; Dr. Maripaz Abas, Director for Instruction; Dr. Samsia Ibrahim, Director of Extension Services; Dr. Tarhata S. Guiamalon; and Dr. Saidamin Bagolong.

The workshop aimed to develop a five-year comprehensive research agenda per college that aligns with the university’s goals and priorities.
