In response to CSU's goal to improve the quality of life of the communities through the implementation of extension services, the public administration program conducted its annual community extension services project dubbed as "Community Services Caravan 2.0- Seminar-Workshop on Harnessing Barangay Leadership and Governance for Sustainable Community Development" with the theme "Ang Magaling na Pamantasan Tumutulong sa Pamayanan."
The Community Services Caravan 2.0 aimed to train barangay leaders and other sectors to address community issues in their barangay; capacitate fostering a better barangay responsive to youth and other sectors through a thorough concept of leadership and good governance; and promote competent, ethical, and innovative leaders in the public sector.
On December 15-16, 2021, the caravan at the Barangay Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, was participated by the barangay officials, women, and youth sector. This activity replicates the same extension service conducted last September 29-30, 2021, at the Barangay Hall, Kalanganan II, Cotabato City.
On the first day, Dr. Hanna N. Usman, who was assigned to discuss Barangay Good Governance, emphasized the eight major characteristics of good governance and how are these would help the barangay officials serve their community better. While on the second day, Dr. Saidamin P. Bagolong explained the barangay justice system, where he stressed the concepts of Katarungang Pambarangay and the role of the Lupong Tagapamayapa in order for them to understand mediation, conciliation, or arbitration, and they will be able to apply it in their barangay.
This caravan was spearheaded by Dr. Saidamin P. Bagolong, concurrent Director for External and International Linkages and Coordinator of Public Administration Program, in cooperation with the Director for Office of Extension Services, Dr. Samsia A. Ibrahim // Saidamin P. Bagolong.
