The SCS Mentoring: "Be a Career Scientist in SOCCSKSARGEN was held in East Asia Royale Hotel, General Santos, on 13-14 November 2023 and was attended by Policy and Scientific Publication Director Dr. Saidamin P. Bagolong. He was joined by other directors, administrators, researchers, and faculty members from various public and private higher education institutions and national government agencies in Region 12. The Department of Science and Technology XII hosted the seminar with the National Academy of Science and Technology and the Scientific Career System.

       On the first day, topics discussed focused on the Scientific Career System and the procedures on how to become a career scientist, followed by discussion on predatory journals and conferences, ethics in research, and the benefits a career scientist enjoyed once conferred by the National Academy of Science and Technology and the Scientific Career System. On the second day, the topic focused on mentoring and assessing how to be admitted as a career scientist.

       Through this seminar, Dr. Bagolong has initiated the approval of the Scientific Publication Mentoring Program Policy and Guidelines to the University Administration to equip the faculty members and future career scientists with ethical practices and transparency, thereby contributing to the credibility and reliability of scholarly publications.
