“If there is peace, there is light.” Promoting peace and eradicating war in due course turning darkness into light is the main reason of strengthening the historical partnership of Cotabato State University (CSU) and Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL) which was articulated during the official courtesy visit of the Korean dignitaries to this University on June 29, 2022.
University President Prof. Sema G. Dilna, Ed.D. emphasized when he was interviewed at his office by the Korean Journalists that Mindanao which is the second largest island in the Philippines has been considered a ‘Land of Promise’ because of the fact that it contains huge wealth of biodiversity and natural resources at the same time the promotion of long lasting peace and security by most regions in the island has become the main concern of the local government and most of the public and private individuals and groups.
In pursuit of peace in Mindanao, known as “war torn areas, HWPL Director Soo Oh said in Korean Language the partnership between CSU as center for peace and HWPL has brought positive result since Mindanao and other regions are now in peaceful situations. “Facilitated by HWPL include management, leadership and intervention a so-called triangular in nature because one is dependent from each other,” Director Soo added.
“You can see banners around the University showing the image of Man Hee Lee indicating the symbol of our strong partnership and collaboration. He is a man of peace and these banners mean that we are extending our warm welcome to the Korean peace agents and exponents; most importantly, we sincerely express our gratitude to their astounding efforts,” the President remarked.
Moreover, the CSU president said this year’s visit of the HWPL to the University has been a manifestation of the sincere intention of each party in carrying out what transpired during their agreement when HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee, Korean war veteran and peace messenger visited the island of Mindanao in 2014 mediating peace agreement between the two major religions –Islam and Christianity and forging partnership with the former Cotabato City State Polytechnic College (CCSPC) now CSU during the administration of the College President, Dr. Dammang S. Bantala in 2016; eventually in 2017 with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the implementation of peace education for the purpose of training students to become peace advocates. //JTH-Records Management Office
